Bank Holiday Defeat
Buckhurst Hill FC’s Bank Holiday Monday ended in disappointment when Takeley took all three points late on against a ten men Stags side.
It was Takeley who opened the scoring when a set piece was capitalised on by striker George James, who headed the ball into the net to give Takeley the advantage.
The Stags responded just eight minutes later when a cross from Shane Temple found the head of Suley Zuhdu inside the penalty area, who’s bullet header left Takeley keeper Monk rooted to the floor, with the teams back level just before the half an hour mark.
The second half brought even more drama to a great game of football, with The Stags coming from behind to now lead the game 2-1 just over ten minutes after the restart. A free kick from George Edwards found an unmarked Shane Temple inside the area, who headed the ball home to give Mark Williams’ side the lead.
The lead unfortunately only lasted for just seven minutes when yet again George James netted a goal for the hosts’ to bring the scores back level.
Disaster struck for The Stags with fourteen minutes of normal time left to play when Harvey Brown was given his marching orders by the referee for an off the ball incident.
With Hill now on the back foot, Takeley looked to capitalise on the one man advantage, which they did just three minutes after the red card when George James completed his hat-trick with scorpion kick to earn Takeley all three points late on.
