The Stags kick-off their competitive campaign tomorrow afternoon as they welcome Essex Senior League side Barking to Roding Lane in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Buckhurst Hill :
The Stags have played a total of eight pre-season friendlies over the course of July and have tested themselves against higher opposition in the latter stages such as Welling United in which The Stags ran out 5-1 winners.
Mark Williams has managed to retain 14 members of his promotion winning side along with introducing 4 new members to the squad so far with more new additions on the way.
This time last year, The Stags faced Maldon & Tiptree in the Extra Preliminary Round with ‘The Jammers’ running away with the contest with the likes of ex-pros Garry Hooper and Freddie Sears featuring against Hill in a 5-0 victory, which would send The Stags home and help Maldon’s run to the First Round Proper.
Now entering the competition as a higher opposition than their opponent, The Stags look to avoid a cup set and push past to the Preliminary Round with the club hoping for a good cup run in our first season at Step 4.
After bursting onto the Buckhurst scene and scoring 24 goals in 39 games since his arrival at the club last September, Harry Lusher is one player to mention who will no doubt be looking to open his account for the season tomorrow afternoon.
The Stags will also be hoping of a repeat of the last two games at Roding Lane in which they did they double over Barking, one of which being the famous play-off final day in which and 82nd minute goal from Arthur Massingham saw Hill promoted to Step 4 for the first time in the clubs history and see Barking’s wait to return to Step 4 go on.
Barking :
The visitors, who make the short trip from Mayesbrook Park, look to make a cup-set and advance to the next round against higher opposition and after a successful pre-season, beating the likes of fellow Essex Senior League favourites Heybridge Swifts, Craig Edwards side could even be confident enough to do that.

Saturday’s FA Cup clash will take place at our home ground, Roding Lane (IG9 6BJ).
The game is scheduled for a 15:00 GMT Kick-Off.
The Stags are set to debut their new home kit for the first time consisting of our traditional blue and black colours with the visitors wearing their yellow and black away strip.

If you plan to travel to Saturday’s game by public transport, the nearest train station is Buckhurst Hill Central Line Station, which is approximately a 10-minute walk to the stadium or a 5-minute bus journey.
