Another weekend of grassroots football for Buckhurst Hill β even if it came with waterlogged pitches, postponements and the great British weather doing its best to ruin the fun. π§οΈβ½
For the teams that did manage to play, there was effort, spirit and some brilliant football across the club. π
Little Arthur was on fire in our U6s this weekend, earning Player of the Week for a brilliantly fun, energetic display. Smiles, tackles, goalsβ¦ everything you want at this age. β½οΈππ€
The Royals shone in their first Brentwood League festival, winning twice and drawing once to finish unbeaten! Great teamwork, energy, and a growing understanding of the game β the future looks bright. β«π΅π
A last-minute equaliser earned the boys a 1β1 draw away at Byron after a determined display from start to finish. Brilliant attitude and teamwork from our youngest group β proper effort! πͺπ
A challenging game in difficult weather, with the boys working hard throughout. A close contest, but a few soft goals proved costly. Plenty of positives and a big effort from everyone. πͺπ΅β«
A tough morning for the Whites, who are still finding their feet in a division that doesnβt quite suit them. Plenty of hard work, plenty of heart, and once the group settles into their correct level, theyβll absolutely flourish. β«π΅β«π΅
A brilliant performance away at Leigh saw the Lionesses claim a well-deserved victory. The girls attacked with confidence, pressed tirelessly, and took their chances superbly. Every single player contributed to an outstanding team display. π¦β«π΅
Not quite at the races this weekend. Millwall were physical, sharp and aggressive, which caused the Blues to stand off a little. The performance becomes a learning moment β the kind that always sparks a stronger comeback next week. πͺπ½
From the first whistle to the last, the Royals were outstanding. Every player grafted, every player contributed, and the momentum this group is building is becoming something special. Promotion formβ¦ and they know it. π΅β«οΈ
No match this weekend, so the Whites are claiming the win anyway. ππ
The U9 Blacks were unlucky to lose 2β1 away at Billericay Town Colts but really should have won comfortably. We missed several chances while 1β0 up, then conceded two poor goals β including an own goal after the keeper had a mad five minutes.
After being moved up two divisions in the mid-season reshuffle, it was encouraging to hear the opposition manager be so complimentary about our boys. Considering Billericay had drawn with both teams promoted from the previous division, it was a good measure of where our boys are and where they can go.
A gritty, clever performance on a pitch with more leaves than grass. The girls stuck to their principles, moved the ball well, and kept building on the work theyβve put in at training. A good afternoonβs football all round. πβ½οΈ
The girls followed up last weekβs 8-1 win with a hard-fought 3-0 victory to make it six wins in a row, and seven wins from eight in the league this season. They were impressive in all departments, but the teamwork and spirit were what really stood out.
The boys were very physical and gave away a lot of fouls, including one challenge that could only be described as a clothesline mixed with a karate kick. The girls didnβt let any of it affect them β they battled, stayed composed and kept playing their football. Emmy put in a colossal display in defence and fully deserved Player of the Match. A brilliant all-round performance.
A professional performance with much-improved communication after the break. Excellent midfield work and some lovely forward play.
Hat-trick hero Thiian was exceptional! ββ½β½β½
The boys couldnβt find their usual energy or sharpness. Missed chances, slow reactions and low desire compared to their usual selves. Honest reflections, tough truths, and one to park quickly before bouncing back stronger next weekend.
A narrow, hard-fought game where the girls showed massive character. With only nine players and no subs, they pushed until the final whistle. Huge effort and determination. ππͺ
Herongate Athletic U11s 2 β 6 BHFC U12 Lionesses
A phenomenal team performance from the Lionesses, with everyone playing their part and showing great spirit. We took the lead early but were pegged back soon after. The girls didnβt drop their heads β they worked hard, won the midfield battle and defended brilliantly.
Once we retook the lead, we kept pushing forward and scored several well-taken goals on the counter. Amelia was outstanding at the back and fully deserved Player of the Match.
A superb display from start to finish. Every player was focused, committed and won their battles.
Shoutouts to Phoebe (colossus at the back) 𧱠and Evelyn (superb up front) π―.
Lovely goals and a real team performance. β½β¨
Six consecutive wins for this special group! They were excellent again against Chigwell Girls β confident, creative, and respectful throughout. The teamβs movement and passing are improving week by week. πͺπ¦π
A tense and emotional contest against Chelmsford tested their focus. Despite off-field distractions, our lads and Molly handled everything with absolute class, sealing a deserved win through determination and composure. β½π₯π
A thrilling home clash with Ilford ended level after a stoppage-time equaliser! The Royals led, trailed, and refused to quit β a true show of resilience and belief. ππ€π
A tight 4β3 thriller against Ridgeway Rovers. From 3β2 down, the Blues dug deep, pushed forward with real conviction, and showed brilliant mentality to turn the match around. Every player stepped up.
A controlled and professional Cup win away from home. The boys handled the occasion brilliantly and powered into the next round. πͺπ₯
The first half was tight and a bit scrappy, with both sides struggling to find rhythm. We opened the scoring, but Romford hit back with an excellent equaliser. We responded well and regained control, going into the break 3β1 up.
In the second half, we created numerous chances and took full control of the match. Romford managed to score another excellent goal, but our attacking quality throughout the second period was too strong. In the end, we were the better side and secured a convincing 8β2 victory.
Another strong win keeps the girls sitting proudly at the summit. Determined, organised and full of fight. πβ½
A heroic performance with just 11 players available, ending in a hard-fought draw against St Cleres. Every player dug deep, stayed disciplined, and showed fantastic teamwork.
π
Player of the Match: Freddie Edwards β dominant in the air and solid throughout.
π Credit to Paul Kemp for refereeing firmly and fairly, helping the boys stay composed.
Held their own for long periods and went in level at half-time, but Wareβs physical edge and experience proved decisive. Still plenty of positives to take away. ππ€
A committed away performance earned a valuable point. Plenty of positives as the girls stay right in the mix at the top end of the table. π΅β«
A mature, structured display with better defensive shape, strong forward runs and clinical finishing.

Onto the next round! π₯πͺ
The weather caused chaos this weekend, with several matches called off due to waterlogged pitches and heavy rain. π§οΈπ¦
But for the teams who played, there was desire, quality and that unmistakable BHFC spirit on show. ππ€
A huge thank you to all players, parents, coaches and volunteers who braved the cold and kept grassroots football moving. βοΈπ
Hereβs to clearer skies and more football next week. π€οΈβ½π
