After a hard week on and off the pitch, Buckhurst Hill bounced back to come from behind to beat Sawbridgeworth Town, inflicting the double over the visitors.

Mark Williams welcomed back leading scorer Hassan Nalbant and he served up a brace to turn his side’s fortunes.

On a cloudy afternoon on a good pitch, both sides started slowly. The first chance of the game fell to Sawbridgeworth and they made it pay when a corner from the right was met well by Jake Knight to head home. Knight went close 5 minutes later when his deflected shot went just over. Buckhurst had a chance on the half-hour when Hassan Nalbant saw his effort well saved. The impressive Knight saw another shot just over the bar on 35.

Just before the break, The Stags got themselves back in the game when a Louis Wynter through ball found Ezekiel Bademosi who slotted home.

Buckhurst Hill looked strong early in the second half and went in front on 56 when a ball fell to Hassan Nalbant who smashed home from the edge of the area. 9 minutes later it was 3-1 when Nalbant was taken down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot and the same player stepped up to rifle home.

The Stags continued to control the game and following some substitutions, saw one of the substitutes, Jake Moss find the net when Sonny Shilling played him through to score low into the net.
The final action of the game saw Sawbridgeworth substitute Charles Irezise-Bruce head over from 5 yards when he should have scored.

After the game, a happy manager Mark Williams commented. “It’s been a tough week and the players played well and worked hard to get a fully deserved 3 points”

Buckhurst Hill’s next game sees them welcome White Ensign in the league on Friday night at 7.45 pm kick off.
