Buckhurst Hill 0 – 0 Ilford FC
Report by Anthony Mercer

Buckhurst Hill and Ilford shared the points, in an uninspiring game on a cloudy afternoon at Myrak Park.

Manager Mark Williams made 2 changes from the midweek defeat at Little Oakley, Nathan Sollosi and Ollie Williams replacing George Johnson and Hassan Nalbant.

The game started briskly with Ilford going close on 3 minutes from a free kick Henry Fisher headed wide before Bademosi was put through, only to see his effort saved by Pitman.

On 17 Joe Lilley hit wide for the visitors before Sonny Shilling struck the post 3 minutes later from a low freekick.

The last effort of the half saw Nathan Sollosi seeing his curling effort go wide of the post.

The second half saw a number of fouls that made the game very stop-start. With goalmouth efforts limited, Buckhurst Hill had to wait until 82 minutes before seeing an on-target effort, when Sollosi was again in front of goal, but Pitman was at his best to save. On 84 the best chance of the game saw a Markatis corner swing dangerously in the box, only for Sollosi’s flick to go just wide. The final effort of the game saw Markatis blaze over.

The whistle went soon after to see Buckhurst Hill to pick up their first point in five games.
The result keeps The Stags in 11th spot. Buckhurst Hill’s next game sees them entertain Little Oakley on Saturday.

After the game, Manager Mark Williams commented “A scrappy encounter. If we had a little more quality in front of goal, we could have won. After 4 defeats, it was pleasing to get a clean sheet”

Connolly, Rowland, Halford, Harris, C Weekes, Williams (Nalbant 58), Moss (Johnson 75), Markatis, Shilling (Tyrrell 75), Bademosi and N Sollosi
