Buckhurst Hill U12 Tigresses made history on Sunday 5th March, becoming the first girls’ team from the club to reach a County Cup Final.
The match against Hutton Sharks in the Semi Final was a tense affair, with both teams struggling to find the back of the net, leading to a goalless draw at full-time.
The Tigresses created the best chances in extra time but could not break the deadlock. However, they held their nerve to emerge victorious in the penalty shoot-out, winning 3-2.
Tigresses’ manager, John Webster, praised his team’s performance, stating that they had worked incredibly hard to reach the final. “As a coaching team, we could not be prouder of this fantastic group of girls. They only started playing as a team in September 2021, so to reach the County final is a huge achievement. It’s a testament to the girls’ hard work!” He also commended they have “natural talent and amazing camaraderie.”
The final, set to be played at Great Wakering Rovers ground on Sunday 23rd April, promises to be an exciting encounter as the Tigresses face County Park of Thurrock.
The Tigresses will undoubtedly hope to build on their impressive performance in the Semi-Final and secure a historic victory in the final.
