Buckhurst Hill u10 Lionesses vs Lakeside u9 Boys

There was to be no present of a cup semi-final for the mothers who stand on the touchline and wash the dirty kit week after week. Despite a huge effort and some world-class goalkeeping from Isobella, the girls came up against a very good Lakeside team. For those who weren’t there, the little car park looked very lakeside and in some places just lake.

From an early stage, the boys were able to play with an out-and-out forward who was causing a challenge to Helena and Kailin at the back. But it was from a corner that the boys seized on the ball first and scored high into the roof of the net.

At the next corner, Marie won the ball and went on a run virtually the full length of the pitch before squaring to Gwen but her shot was blocked.

Then Marie on the break brought out an excellent diving save from the Lakeside keeper.

The girls were battling well, with Amelie and Lilian working hard, but the boys were just a little sharper and managed to score another couple of goals before the break.

At halftime, there was a rousing appeal from Captain Amelie to win the half and win the match. And with Holly, Lyla and Ella on the girls started brightly. However, despite the effort and a few chances for the girls to score, the boys were that bit slicker and ran out worthy winners. So unfortunately it was not to be Knees Up Mother Brown.
