Buckhurst Hill FC 6-1 Basildon Town

On Super Bowl Sunday, we continued our hunt for silverware. A potential banana skin v Basildon who had gone on a 10 game winning streak, and we look to bounce back our QF exit.
The boys were given their pep talk, we set up
Danny, Kerim,Marquez,Tami,Rob.Lee, Taylan,Bryn,Toju,Vince and Redmond. With Sid, Johnny, Henry and H on the bench.
We started sloppy if we’re honest, missing quite a few chances but dominating the ball. The decisions being made were poor, as was our levels, very frustrating for the coaches.
Then as we all know their first attack, a poorly cleared corner dropped to them, a neat finish but summing up play, a poor goal to concede. 1–0 down, we replied pretty much straight away Redmond finding Taylan who shot home from close range 1-1. We continued to create chance after chance, we were taking the shots quickly nor were we at the technical level we know we can be at.

We rotated bringing on Henry/Sid and Johnny.
We started well popping the ball about nicely, midfield getting on the ball and moving wide, nice one twos, the whole team was clicking. Then an assist for Danny who got the ball spotted Tay making a run the ball dropped over and Tay lifted it nicely over the keeper. Then Tami drove forward skipped past a few players and was clearly tripped, Red stepped up 3-1.
We were now clicking and we continued to dominate possession and play, Henry whipped in a FK it through Bryn 4-1 who nodded it home not long after a lovely interchange and Toju slips in Bryn 5-1.
Great to see H back after missing last week, and after a mazy run another penalty should of been given, but no. Then best goal of the game lovely one two between a toju and marquez who slid it across the goal face for Henry to flick in touchdown 6-1.
Chalk and cheese halves we really need the lads to be focused every minute or every game if they’re to achieve what we know they can. But we’ve navigated another game and into another QF. Roll on next week
