A brilliant day, and a brilliant result for the Stags as they came away with the deserved three points in their game against Takeley this afternoon.
The Stags started the game strongly and were unlucky not to have a penalty in the first 5 minutes. After 7 minutes the hosts had their first chance of the game as George Thompson came close but his shot was saved by the Takeley goalkeeper.
Buckhurst Hill got their first goal within 25 minutes after brilliant build-up play from Moncur resulted in a good finish from George Thompson to make it 1-0 for the hosts.
The Stags came close again with a shot brilliantly saved by the Takeley keeper, but the visitors couldn’t stop the second goal as George Johnson netted it and made it 2-0 for the Stags.
After an incredible 90 minutes of football, the Stags were the dominant side overall and deserved the three points. At full time manager Mark Williams praised his side after a win which he called a tough fixture.
