Unfortunately, The Stags could not continue their winning streak period as it came to an end tonight against Coggeshall Town FC.

Mark Williams opted to keep Alex Reed in the net for the fixture after his magnificent performance against top-of-the-table Tilbury on Saturday afternoon. He also chose three of our reserve players to feature on the bench.

Buckhurst Hill started strongly and within only 4 minutes the referee pointed to the spot to award The Stags a penalty. Henry Clark, who captained the hosts on the night due to Williams being on the bench, stepped up to take the spot kick but it was saved by a strong hand from the visitors’ keeper and the rebound was skied.

Coggeshall then had their turn to attack at The Stags’ net but no shots troubled the in-form Reed. Buckhurst Hill had many more chances with Thompson and Moncur’s efforts coming close but were not enough to put The Stags in front. Just before halftime, the visitors hit the post with an effort which nearly put them in front until eventually leading in the first few minutes of the second half.

Into the second half, the visitors led at 52’ minutes as a shot was driven low and Reed had no chance of stopping the effort. The second 45 was filled with a lot of action for The Stags but they couldn’t convert any of those chances. The game was finished with a last-minute attack from the hosts but Thompson couldn’t finish his effort off and The Stags had to settle with a 1-0 defeat to Coggeshall. A tough one to take after Mark’s men fought well but couldn’t finish in the final third.
