Youth Round-Up | Week 5 – From First Kicks to Cup Glory ⚫🔵

Week 5 brought another unforgettable weekend of youth football at Buckhurst Hill FC — a perfect snapshot of what makes our club special: commitment, community, and a shared love of the game.

The morning began with history as our U6s pulled on the black-and-blue for the very first time, buzzing with energy and excitement as they played their opening matches. At the other end of the pathway, our U18 Lionesses signed off Sunday in style with a commanding home win, completing yet another double-victory weekend for the girls’ programme alongside the U15 Lionesses, who impressed with high-tempo attacking football and clinical finishing.

In between those milestones came a wave of strong performances. The U7s continued to grow in confidence with brave displays at the Brentwood League festival, the U8 Lionesses put on a show at home with fluent attacking play, and the U8 Blues produced a spirited second-half comeback that nearly turned the match on its head.

The U10 Tigresses stole plenty of headlines with a stunning performance away at AFC Leyton, playing fearless, flowing football and celebrating Anaya’s first ever goal – a moment she’ll never forget! The U10 Lionesses and both U11 teams also impressed, showing control, teamwork, and technical quality — a real sign of how far our younger age groups have come.

Further up the ladder, the U12 Lionesses delivered a thrilling 5-3 victory built on desire and togetherness, with Annabelle starring up front with four goals. Their counterparts, the U12 Tigresses, breezed through County Cup Round 1 in style, scoring freely while staying composed and professional.

There were memorable wins elsewhere too: the U13 Lionesses battled back from behind to notch a fourth straight triumph, the U14 Blues secured their first win of the season, and the U14 Blacks edged a gritty 1-0 at Hackney Marshes — complete with a late penalty save and goal-line clearance straight out of a cup final.

Even in defeat, our teams showed what Buckhurst Hill is all about. The U13 Royals pushed a strong Ryan side all the way, the U16 Blacks fought back from two goals down to earn a draw, and the U17 EJA held their own against older opposition with plenty of heart and determination.

From first-time kick-offs to comeback points and County Cup celebrations, Week 5 perfectly captured the heartbeat of grassroots football at Buckhurst Hill. Every team, every coach, and every parent played a part in a weekend full of energy, learning, and pride in the badge. ⚫🔵⚽
