Youth Round-Up | Week 8: Passion, Progress & Perfect Pitches

Week 8 of the Buckhurst Hill youth season summed up everything great about grassroots football — determination, development and community spirit.

Across every age group there were stories of growth and grit. The early kick-offs were filled with noise and excitement as parents lined the touchlines and the first passes zipped across the immaculate Roding Lane turf. What followed was a day of football that reflected exactly what the club stands for — teamwork, humility and joy.

The U8 Blues lit up their local derby with confidence and creativity, stringing together flowing moves that would make any coach proud. The U9 Royals showed the other side of the game — courage. Down to the bare minimum and finishing with six players, they still battled for every ball and refused to give in. That kind of commitment says more than any scoreline ever could.

The Lionesses programme continues to go from strength to strength. The U11 Lionesses impressed in a friendly against older opposition, keeping a clean sheet and playing with composure beyond their years. A little higher up the ladder, the U13 Lionesses made it six straight wins with another dominant display — their togetherness and confidence growing every week.

For the boys’ sides, the headlines came thick and fast. The U14 Blues produced a massive win built on teamwork and humility, highlighted by Eddie’s hat-trick and the quiet pride that followed it. The U14 Blacks fought hard for a 1–0 victory over Senrab in front of family and friends on the first-team pitch — an unforgettable moment for that group of players.

And while there were plenty of goals and highlights, perhaps the most telling praise of the weekend came from a manager’s message after the final whistle:

“Everyone commented on how good the pitches are – thank you to the club and grounds staff – they are in such good nick.” 🌱👏

That small note of gratitude says a lot about Buckhurst Hill FC. The smooth passes, confident first touches and quality football we see every weekend come from the unseen hard work of the volunteers, coaches and grounds staff who make it all possible.

Week 8 was a reminder that our success isn’t just measured in wins but in the values that underpin them — respect, humility and community pride. The club continues to grow stronger on and off the field, bound together by that unmistakable black-and-blue heartbeat.
