The Buckhurst Hill U8 Lionesses played in their third ever match on Saturday 8th October against Leyton AFC girls. The girls had a slow start and that with mixed with a very muddy field meant that they found themselves quickly 2-0 down. Leyton took advantage of the opportunities they were given and converted a couple of lost balls. At half time with a bit of a team talk about a hard press from the first pass and looking for teammates on the field a whole new team entered the pitch.
The girls were strong defensively led by Jessica and Ivy regularly dispossessing the opposition and not allowing shots on target. Ottilie, Summer and Sophia put in some serious legwork on the field creating some great opportunities. Tessa put the team back in the game with a goal which was quickly followed by two storming goals from Mai-Lei. Victory was cemented by a well fought for goal by Aarya.
The girls worked hard as a team, showed resilience and deserved to get their first win as a squad. The coaches could not be prouder and these girls are definitely a team to watch.
