Major Developments Unveiled for Buckhurst Hill
A Game-changer for the Community!
Exciting news is on the horizon as plans for the redevelopment of the former Buckhurst Hill County High School for Boys (Currently GGSK College) site have been unveiled, featuring transformative initiatives for the community and Buckhurst Hill Football Club!
Key Highlights:
🏫 New School Development: The proposal includes the establishment of a new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school catering to 68 children. This initiative is paired with an enabling project, incorporating a state-of-the-art 4G pitch for Buckhurst Hill Football Club.
🏠 Repurposing the Existing Building: The existing school building will be repurposed to provide approximately 80 flats, minimising demolition and contributing to sustainable development.
⚽ Enhancements for Buckhurst Hill FC: The football club is set to receive a floodlit 4G artificial pitch as a ‘gift,’ elevating the facilities to the next level. The Myrak Park ground clubhouse will undergo refurbishment and extension at no expense to the club, facilitating the launch of a football scholarship program.
💡 Special Circumstances: While the Roding Lane site isn’t initially allocated for housing, the proposal aims to demonstrate ‘very special circumstances’ for planning approval. The community-gain elements, including school facilities and the football pitch, will precede housing construction.
📚 Educational Opportunities: The proposed school will provide additional places for Oak View School in Loughton, offering 68 more spaces for much-needed student intake.
📆 Project Timeline: The planning application is anticipated to be submitted in late January or February 2024, with a committee date in mid-April. If all goes well, on-site activities are expected to commence by the end of the year.
